mermaid melody
What is it?
Luchia is 13 years old, a sea virgin/mermaid and the princess of the Pacific ocean. As it saved it was still small to a boy the life, who was fallen with a tempest of a cruise ship in the sea. In order to save to the boy the life, it gave it its magic bead, which should heal it.

Many years later Luchia is sent on the search, in order to find their bead again, because without bead she cannot become a correct princess. Luchia makes itself into into the people world. There it meets on again Kaito, which it had saved boys at that time. However also the bad is on the search for Luchia´s bead and there Kaito the bead still in its possession had, it by Izul, a maid of the bad Gaito, was attacked. Luchia would like to naturally help it, but she is too weak. When Kaito throws it in the last moment the bead again, she transforms into the “Pink Pearl Mermaid Princess”. Mermaids can sell bad powers of the sea with their Songs, since these cannot bear the beautiful singing. Izul flees and thus Luchia Kaito already a second time saved.

But the love between a sea virgin and humans is not to be told straight simply, since it is not permitted to a sea virgin/mermaids in its human shape, to humans their true identity, since it dissolves otherwise in sea foam. If it should find out humans however on its part alone, then is ok. Thus Luchia however always is in the doubt whether Kaito loves her only as Mermaid or also as humans.

But that is not Luchia´s only problem, because the leader of the bad ones, Gaito, which Kaito sees similar for confounding, would like to control all 7 seas , but in addition he needs all 7 beads of the sea virgins/mermaids   Princesses 2 Princesses are under his control and it already sends its maids, in order to bring it also still the remaining princesses.

Luchia is not however alone. Gradually further allied ones push to it. First Hanon, the light blue princess of the south Atlantic and afterwards Lina, the green princess of the north Atlantic. Together they fight bad powers of the sea with their singing and must besides the sea goddess Aqua Regina again-arouse, so that the bad can be banished on all time. But around it to arouse, one needs all 7 beads. Thus must find Luchia, Hanon and Lina first the other Mermaids.

on the manga

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is a Japanese manga series, written by Yokote Michiko, and drawn by Hanamori Pink. The manga is 32 chapters long, comprising seven collected volumes, or tankouban. In addition, Pichi Pichi Pitch has also been made into a television anime series, which was divided into two distinct seasons, Pichi Pichi Pitch (52 episodes) and Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure (39 episodes).

Pichi Pichi Pitch is a story set firmly in the mahou shoujo ("magical girl") genre. These stories, almost universally written by women and marketed toward female readers, are centered around otherwise "normal" heroines who discover that they have magical powers. Famous examples of this genre include Hime-chan's Ribbon, Minky Momo, Creamy Mami, Saint Tail, Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, and many others. If you want to learn more about mahou shoujo, I would recommend visiting Henshin, a fabulous website with tons of information about the genre.

So what is Pichi Pichi Pitch all about? At its heart, it's about a girl and a guy, of course. The girl is Lucia, a mermaid princess who has come to the human world, searching for her long-lost pearl. The boy is Kaito, an orphan who is searching for the mermaid who saved him from drowning when he was just a little boy. Lucia, of course, has to assume a human form while she's on dry land. Her human form looks almost nothing like her mermaid form, which is why Kaito doesn't even consider the possibility that his beloved mermaid, and this girl in his class named Lucia, might be the same person. So Kaito loves his mermaid, of course. And Lucia loves her Kaito. But if Lucia reveals the secret of her true identity to Kaito, she will turn into foam.

Thus, Lucia has few options left. On one hand, she tries her hardest, in her human form, to win Kaito's heart. On the other hand, she thinks that she might have found a loophole in this whole turning-into-foam business. "Search for me," she tells Kaito, while in her mermaid form. Lucia thinks that the rule is, she will only turn into foam if she herself reveals her secret to Kaito. Nobody ever said what would happen if Kaito could figure it out on his own.

But there's more to this series than just this love story (a love triangle, actually, since Kaito thinks that mermaid Lucia and human Lucia are two different people). A mysterious villain is attacking the seven kingdoms of the ocean world, seeking to capture the mermaid princesses and their pearls. Lucia is one of those mermaid princesses, as is her friend, Hanon. Together, they must search for the five other mermaid princesses, and, using the combined power of their seven pearls, summon the ocean goddess, Aqua Regina, in order to restore peace to the ocean again. But it's not an easy task. There are scheming monsters closing in on Lucia, and poor, all-too-human Kaito is being targeted as well. (Although, as it turns out, Kaito is not entirely defenseless... And he may not even be entirely human.)

Pichi Pichi Pitch is a wonderfully-written, beautifully-illustrated story. As is the case with most mahou shoujo stories, character development is the most important part of any episode, although there's a nicely complex plot, and plenty of action thrown in as well. The story definitely follows the rules and conventions of the mahou shoujo genre, although there are plenty of creative, original twists in the plot. I would definitely recommend this series to any mahou shoujo fan.
